Breakout

Sessions

  • Living overseas can be very different from living in the U.S. and often challenging. We’ll hear from a panel of folks in our region who have lived overseas, and learn some practical ways we can support the 19 field staff (singles and families) including 21 kids we’ve sent from the LA Region. We’ll also have a card writing station to send notes to them!

Panelists: Ruth Lam, Eunice Hui, Christy Johnson, Erik Aasland, and Kevin G.

  • God cares about us and the cities we live in, but what does it look like to partner with Him and each other to bless our neighborhoods in practical ways? We’ll hear inspiring stories and ideas about how to reach our community, practice hearing from each other, and do listening prayer to ask God how we can engage with both small and large needs in our cities.

Facilitated by Alex Dobbs (First Love), Thomas Irwin (New Life), and James Yu (West LA).

  • No matter what workplace we may be in, or what position we’re in, we can invite God’s love and presence into our work and work relationships. Come hear some key ways to do that, then break into small groups to hear from others in similar industries as we pray and ask God to move!

Facilitated by Tiff Cheuk (West LA) and Jen Louie (Pasadena)

  • In Matthew 9:35, when Jesus saw the crowds and had compassion on them, he didn’t immediately send his disciples out to do something (missions) - he asked them to pray first before sending them out in Matthew 10. Prayer is key to seeing God’s Kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven, and EVERY DISCIPLE is called to pray. In this breakout, we will learn the biblical foundation of prayer and various related practices that fuel the power of prayer. We will also learn a simple Antioch prayer model of TWI (Thanksgiving, Worship, Intercession), which you can easily use to pray with your friends, coworkers, lifegroups, and even to lead church-wide prayer meetings! It is time to increase our knocking on heaven’s door (Luke 18) and stand in the gap (Ezekiel 22:30). Come and let’s do it together!

  • Many people today have experienced trauma. As followers of Jesus, how do we come alongside and love others well who’ve experienced trauma? Join us for this workshop as we understand the basics of how trauma impacts us and others, how to be empathetic and understanding, and some best practices for how to care for others with a trauma-informed approach.

Led by Tobi Nishikawa (LMFT) and Karen Harvey (LMFT).
